In an 1899 issue of “The Candenza”  H C Nelsen of North Evanstown, Illinois is listed as a maker of banjos.  

In the December 1911 “B.M.G.” a banjo by Nelsen of Chicago Illinois is offered for sale.  It was described as having a 19” fingerboard, 12” vellum and fitted with non-slip pegs.
